We are now on a seasonal pitch on hard standing. We are thinking about whether to buy an awning. However I can't drive pegs into the ground yet I often come to the caravan without my hubby.

So if we get one I need an easy system. I told hubby we'd have to get the drill type pegs and drill. However someone told me they are no easier. Does anyone have a link to pegs that are actually tried and tested easy for hard standing..

Thanks and no we can't leave awning up and only want a porch one anyway.

Hi CatieB we have had some problems in the past with the wind blowing our pegs out on a hard standing, then I bought some Diamond hard standing screw in pegs they are much easier to than the the pegs you bang in with a hammer and they hold the awning better and have abetter grip in the ground with a good battery drill they go in no problem.Ian

We use the metal screw in pegs on hard standings and up to now they seem to work well.

We were on a hardstanding at St Davids C&CC a few years ago and I couldnt drill a hole with a masonry bit with the drill set on hammer. Now thats what you call hard.

We use rock pegs and a small lump hammer.
Pull them out with plumbers wrench. They hold pretty well.

As you are on a seasonal pitch why not leave the pegs in the ground. All you have to do when putting up the awning is to connect the rubber straps/loops over the peg heads.

You might want to highlight the pegs in the ground when  the awning is not set up. Little flags maybe?

Someone else suggested this, sorry for obviously being dim but how do you then connect the rubber straps loopy things? Usually the peg goes through and the end of the peg is bigger than the hole, if that makes sense so the peg won't go all the way through. Ummmm??.

The rock pegs usually have little hooks on 1 side so the rubber should stretch over xx
