Please can somebod tell me- is it ok to travel with the hot water tank full or do I need to drain it?- it is a carver water heater with a 9 litre capacity.
Also the same question for my casette toilet- can you travel with fresh/pink water on board or should it be drained?
I don't know how to drain the fresh from the toilet, the thetford instructions don't actually mention this. It is the type with the swivel spout for putting in the fesh water.
You can drain the top flush tank of the toilet just by just pumping it into the toilet and then into the bottom cassette tank. That's what I do if there is any water left in the flush tank prior to departure. Regarding water in the hot water tank you really need to do a noseweight test on the hitch first and see what the reading is. If my caravan hot water tank is empty the noseweight is too low but if it's full I can get it just right but there again it all depends on what weight you have stored in the front locker as well as this will make a difference to the noseweight. I have 2 x calor-lite gas cylinders, a plastic water carrier, a red plastic bucket, a pair of plastic ramps and chocks and the caravan leg winder.

You unclip the sight glass at the side, and point it downwards.
I would point it into a bottle or something, otherwise you're just throwing away loads of pink.
Depends on how far you are travelling I suppose, the extra weight could make a difference,
I think the recomend draining the flush tank, not sure about heater tank.
