When we recently changed our towcar we applied the replacement number plate to the caravan with heavy duty double sided tape supplied and recommended for the job by Towsure. I have just found it lying on the ground!
Luckily we are at home at the moment and the 'van is in the back garden and I have to admit the tape held out for one trip last w/e.
The original plate applied by Chichester Caravans from new was on there for 'life' according to OH who made a proper job by cleaning off all old residue etc. before applying new.
We could and will if necessary make 20 mile round trip to C. Caravans for a solution but in the meantime can anyone help please - our new car dealership who supplied the No plate suggested we use a couple of screws - surely not?
Mine is screwed on.
Have a look underneath, I'm sure that were the number plate goes is not actually part of the caravan, its like a plastic add on so won't effect the caravan in anyway.
I just changed our towcar two weeks ago so had to get new plates for the van.
I attached both the old and new plates with Halfords number plate sticker pack. you get 3 strips all the corrcet size and a couple of alchol wipes to ensure a clean surface. works very well, had to really pull to get the old one off.
Personally I wouldnt be drilling holes, as my van is still under warranty and wouldnt want to risk manufacturer/water ingress problems.
I also found my plate on the grass one morning (stuck on by dealer) we had some very heavy duty Velcro tape so used that. I check it now and again and it’s perfect
I had used the Halfrauds sticky pads on the previous number plate. I couldnt pull the old one off and ended up using a piece of garden wire to cut through the old pads. It was never going to fall off.
