Hi all,
new to caravanning and made our first blunder - left the water heater on with no water in it for about a week doh!

anyway, i've refilled it today and switched it on and it works, phew.

My query is I am sure there were led lights on the switch when it was on before, is this correct or did I imagine it? no lights now but it heats water ok.....

also anyone with the same van, what does the black switch next to the gas control for the ultrastore do ? mine appears to do nothing at all.....

hope to hear from some experts ;-)

No there is no led on the ultrastore electric switch. The ultrastore electric element has a thermal cut out to stop damage. The black switch next to the gas control is actually the power switch that turns on the electric elememnt of the ultrastore on. How are you trying to heat the water?,gas or electric?

Hi checkly,

We had a 2009 dt.
If I remember rightly, the switch turned on the electric element for the ultrastore. It had a red line printed across the top of the switch to show it was on.
There should be another switch next to it with a grey collar around it that you twist. I think this controlled the gas part of the ultrastore. If you turn it clockwise, you should hear the gas ignite. When the gas is on, the light used to turn on.
We haven't been in a Sportline, so I'm not certain the switching is the same.
Hope it helps.
PS.
We did exactly the same thing with the water heater as well. It worked after we'd done it twice!

thanks guys, if the black switch isolates the element then i think i am ok as this was off, it was just the 230v switch was in the 70 degree position.

appreciate the feedback all, WIZZO - are you still the owner of your DT or have you sold on? I wanted to say a big thanks for your Ultraheat instructions, I followed these instead of the official ones and installed it in approx 2 hours, very easy :-)

I have now also installed an external plug socket, just deciding on TV now. We were given a sat system with the van but I think I would prefer to fit an aerial to the roof, not sure how hard it would be though, the wiring and power supply for the booster are already in the wardrobe so I guess its just being brave enough to drill a hole in the roof!

I have now sold her. The family wanted a change from caravaning. I hope to come back to it once the kids have grown up.Thanks for your coments,I am glad to be of help. I will still be around here. You say 230v switch was at 70 but that is the gas control and that will only work when you have lit the pilot (and of course taken off the outside flue cover. Any other questions do not hesitate to ask.
