helo, ive just removed the bolts for my hitch damper on the 2001 elddis avante 475 but it seems to be stuck inside its casing, hitch removed and the rear bolt, have I missed anything out in the removal or is there a solution

Yes you should have inserted the correct size diameter steel dowel to retain the damper spring first before removing the bolt furthest way from the hitch. You will have a job pushing back the spring now so hopefully someone can offer further advice on how to do this. It would have paid to ask for advice on here first before undertaking the task or at least bough a book with the relevant procedure on how to remove the existing hitch.

Thank you , there is no sbring action left in my existing damper so I was able to push the damper back to its original location at the hitch but its still stuck. If I cant get a solution I have already saved labour costs to remove the cover and hitch so when my local mobile caravan service man comes to fix my mess I will save a little bit hopefully.
