She's arrived! She's 30 years old and we think she's in great condition for her age.
We had a trial run on the drive with the awning and managed it in the end, phew! We have named the van Lola. lots to do but it's all very exciting!
Jolly good. Give it a pressie of a chassis service & new
tyres & you can tow it to the ends of the earth. You can
spend the £15000 you saved by not buying a new one on
beer.

Ha! Beer for hubby, wine for me.
Service is the first job, not in any mad rush to go away, I think this one's going to be a slow burner!
First interior job will prob be floor, first to figure out how to get the carpet up (I'm thinking Stanley knife combined with brute force and ignorance!). Fingers crossed there are no horrors concealed underneath!
Hmmmm...I would avoid doing too much, you will end up with
too much work. Look at underneath of floor, if it is flaky
at the corners dig out the loose bits & patch up with
Isopon P40. This & Silkaflex 512 for sealing are your
friends, you really don't want to be doing major interior
strip outs here.
The carpets on older caravans was stuck to complete floor
& furniture bolted over the top so leave that where it is
if you can.
Our friends had one of these and he hand painted her with a roller, came up pretty good considering. Mind you he was the type of bloke that does everything spot on…
Enjoy her in this beautiful weather we are having refurnish in the winter months.
She looks fab! I'm sure you'll have some lovely holidays with her. I'd not start anything till you've had her serviced - pick an exoert's brains before you start :-)

Dont worrt we all started like you
you should of seen my first van proper rough !
but still better than a drafty tent
Well, I wasn't worried but now I'm starting to wonder if I should be...Charming! Cheeky monkey.
Actually I like to think that she looks pretty good in the daytime too, considering her age! She's obviously old but not in a decrepit, falling apart kind of way (at least I hope not!) - just an old-fashioned shape and colours kind of way. And she's paid for which makes me a happy bunny. Will get a pic in the daylight eventually, we started the awning when the kids went to bed and it was dark by the time we sussed it, hence the lack of daylight. Kids love it and keep asking when we are going away. It wasn't worth spending a lot as a) we want to see if it's for us first and b) the kids seem to manage to wreck everything we have anyway - this way I don't have to worry.
Husband is currently on a hissy fit as the carpet is, as someone said, glued down. I just think what goes up... Ever heard it said that 'some people are bridges, some are barriers'? Guess which he is. Hmm. Anyhoo, we won't be doing anything apart from cleaning until the service is done and I have picked the chaps brains as much as possible.
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - Big Al, I'll let you off this time!
I still think its a better design to put the gas locker on the draw bar, rather than intruding into the lounge space.
My first van was a Perle Argos a tiny 4 berth, when I bought it the roof light was leaking and the ceiling had fallen down. I re sealed it and renewed the damaged battens and boarding. I gave it a roll of wallpaper and it was as good as new
