Very interesting, and sounds like a good service, thanks for sharing.
I have a drive away lightweight awning for my quirky little caravan and last week on a site, it got very mucky as we were pitched underneath a tree - so sap, bits of tree, roosting birds and piles of bird-poop, etc. It was in a state when I brought it home!
I set to work with it flat on the garden and used Grannys Soap Flakes (approx £1 from Home and Bargain) and used a soft washing up brush to get it clean - it was mostly the roof and a bit of one side that needed most cleaning. Then I rinsed it with the hosepipe and got it over the washing line to dry - it came up like new.
I don't know whether I would recommend this treatment for canvas type awnings, but it worked for my smallish nylon.polyester? type without affecting the waterproofing.
I thought I would post this here as someone might maybe just want to spot clean a few areas and this is a good way to do it.
