Just wondering if anybody uses wax/polish on the exterior of the caravan? If so, what do you use and is your van made of aluminium or abs or grp of fibreglass etc. I am wondering what is best to use on my grp Bailey Orion, but I'm sure there will be traditional construction van owners out there just as unsure what to use if anything. We all want a lasting shine on our vans but what products work best?

My friend has a motor home and he swears by autoglym caravan polish , I washed mine at the weekend and just used car wash&wax then just chamied it off like the car :) it looks great . but just be careful with the windows don't use any chemicals on them ! Again just chamey off,
------------- Loads of CC sites to many to mention.
A UKCS member advised to use Greased Lightning Showroom Shine. It's waterless so it's ideal if your caravan is storage plus it's easy to take with you so you can use it on site to clean both car and caravan if you want. It contains Kanuba wax and it removes those black streaks immediately with no effort at all and highly recommend it. You need to apply with a micro-fibre cloth though as it lifts the dirt and grime immediately without scratching the paintwork plus it can be applied to steel, aluminium or GRP and has a lasting shine too. It's a versatile cleaner and once you have used it you will be pleased with the results.
We used silky to clean ours yesterday, then rinsed off and buffed with a soft cloth, looks lovely, Incidently why can you not use chemicals on the windows gilb29?
Thanks for all the helpful advice. Sounds like a bottle of decent car polish and a healthy dollop of elbow grease are on the horizon for my Orion hehe. I will make sure I keep the stuff away from the windows...
