Hi all, I am wanting to put a leisure battery in the floor stowage section in the boot of my 11 plate S-Max and have it charged via the rear fuse box if possible.
The questions I have are: is there the wiring already there for charging (ie if a tow bar was to be fitted) and also what sort of battery would be 'safe' to have inside the vehicle? I would want it charged via a voltage sensing relay.
I would really appreciate your comments.
Please consider security of mounting, ventilation, acid leakage, separation of conductors (could items placed on top result in a short circuit?), robustness in the event of a collision, access for isolation in an emergency.
I am not certain what the floor stowage box is like; I fear it might be unsuitable.
Hi You would need to have a vent in the floor of your car as when you charge a battery it gives of a flammable gas most leisure batteries have a pipe to vent the gas to the outside.
Yes if you tap into the tow bar wiring it would charge the battery if you have a twin socket 12n {black} & 12s {grey} the green No 4 is for charging a battery white No 3 Earth
