Took our van out sun morn for a trial run, first time hubby has towed and I am so proud of him did very well. Bit nervous for all of us at first but soon relaxed. Only did a short trip and went to a industrial estate to practice reversing etc. managed up and down hills. I know we were not loaded up fully but it towed really easily. Cant wait for proper trip out on sunday when we go away.
Well done Always horrible first time towing. I was a nervous wreck when we got our first van and had to go up to pick it up. especially as had to go on a single track road and motorway but now don't feel so bad. I'm always wary for the first few miles each time we go away until I get used to having the van on the back of the car again. Wife now tows the van as well
thanks, doubt i will ever tow as cant drive. Am happy to let hubby do it an dI'll be there to navigate and support. Am impatient to get away now and stay in the caravan.
Glad you had a good time, it will get easier the more you do it and your confidence will grow...How did the towing go, ive got an almera tino 1,8 and my van is a 1080 weight
Well done, key is to relax and enjoy the experience, no rush is the keyword. We have all been first timers so know how you feel. I am sure younwill love your first proper away. Enjoy.
It can be quite nervous for some and for those that feel that way I applaud them fully for having a practice run first just like yourselves. Each time it becomes a confidence booster which is then a learning curve for all of us regarding hill starts and reversing etc. but once you achieve that confidence then you can focus on planning happy days ahead.

It towed really well, we were not fully obviously, but did still have some stuff in van, it wasnt empty as I have started to put things in ready for the weekend. We made it easily up and down hills, some of which were very steep. is the weight of yours you quoted empty? think ours is 985 empty and 1300 full(but not 100% i have the figures right) You could tell we were towing but wasnt anywhere near as heavy as we thought it would be. So many people told us the tino would not be able to tow, but thefigures add up to say yes and we found it ok. Have you not towed with yours yet?
Well done to your OH, likewise I towed for the first time on Sunday (posted under the towing section) I was so nervous, but chuffed to bits with myself that I did it.
So good luck and here's to many more towing trips (for us both!)
Yes I have towed to the windermere and in 2 weeks off to scarborough. The weight is 1080 loaded and 8?? unloaded. But I can tow 1200 loaded, so lots more stuff to put in if I want but I dont put in more than I really need, ime always aware of being over the limit. I have added the awning the last two times Ive been out, but I only went 20 mins up the road
