We're about to buy a tourer for the two of us and are planning to tour in Scotland. My husband also wants to see the northern lights if possible. Just wondering of anyone on here had seen them whilst in Scotland and if so where were you staying?

Sure have - while staying at Findochty (pronounced "Finechty!) on the Moray coast in early September a few years ago.
Having said that, I have seen them from Manchester twice, which is a miracle - you're doing well seeing the moon most nights with the light pollution here.

You can see them from most places in the Highlands. Of course they don't actually appear until the middle of the night most of the time... but the stars are stunning to see up there! I saw them from a cottage near Tain on the Moray Firth. I think there's a few campsites nearby.
