Last week I posted the picture below after side swiping a parked car. I have just got off the phone to the caravan repairers who have said that they can't repair it to a satisfactory level because of where the damage is i.e. on the profile and on the lip of the panel. As it is an insurance job do I just get them to fix it best they can or ask for it to be written off. The latter seems a bit extreme for such light damage but I don't want the van to be worth less because you can see where it was repaired. Dilemma
Has anyone had experience of getting body work done?

Did a similar job to a petrol pump about three years ago.
(TBH mine was slightly worse)
The bill came to just over the thousand but I can't tell you what the result was because I sold the 'van to a dealer who was going to do the job BUT;
I can tell you that two dealers said it was an easy job and it involved a new awning rail just like yours.

If it was my van, I would stick a reflector over the dent over the top of Lunar,take the other reflector off, Get the rear dent filled and painted, fit a couple of feet of awning rail.But you cant really see what the depth of the dents are.plus do you want a really pro job doing,How andy are you, do you know anyone that can sort it for you?

If you took your car in for a crash repair to be told that the damage can't be repaired to a satisfactory level what would you do? I would obtain a second opinion with a reputable caravan repairer first and see what their comments are as this is exactly why you insure your caravan. If not satisfied I would take the matter further with the the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline to see where you stand or contact the Ombudsman as a secondary approach.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I would get them to write it off and pay you full market value, i would then offer to buy it back off them for a much reduced rate. Then repair it myself or just live with it so long as skin isnt punctured etc.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
