Heading to haverford west in wales on Saturday about 0300 from nottingham
the way i see it i have two options
M1,M42,M5, M50 A40
or
M1,M5,M4 with tolls bridge A48(i think) A40
from AA route finder not much in time wise but need to take into consideration amount of fuel used and suitable places to stop and rest. plus the amount of roundabouts which will be stop start on the fuel.Still class myself as a newbie so concerned about where i can rest on the way.
If I go second option i guess will be down M5 near M4 for 6/7 in morning and i know thats when the cornwall traffic starts.
I go to Cardiff a lot with the caravan from Harrogate, Yorkshire; takes me 5 hours. and get 33-35mpg depending on traffic. It will be a good run at that time in the morning.
A1M, M18 then onto M1 ,M42, M5, M50, A40 then A449 to M4 at junc 24 Newport, suggest you take that route then keep on M4 and pick up the A40 again at Carmarthen and miss out the A40 Brecon Beacons road.
Service areas on motorways then on the A40 and A449 plenty of good laybys for a rest.
A40 from the A449 at Raglan, east towards Brecon and Llandovery is not the best road to tow along.
Better to take the A40 to Abergavenny, then the A465 to Merthyr and Neath and join the M4 there.
Don't bother driving down the M5 to Bristol and the Severn Bridges. It is no quicker and we'll charge you to get into Wales!!
No idea how to get to H/west, I'm after some info myself. Can you tell me how to post a message as I can't seem to find out how, I can only reply to other people.
Thanks in advance
