Wondered if anyone has or does own one of these old style caravan movers.
Its the small 4 wheeled unit with a 50mm ball on top, has a extended handle and still works off 12 volts.
Not the one that replaces the jockey wheel, its a unit on its own.
I don't need a caravan mover fitted to the caravan as I can reverse without any problems.
Its just to get out and put back down our drive which has a 1 in 4 slope with very little space each side (4"), so no room for error plus I can't see the sides or back of the van when I am reversing. It has to go down drive, between gable and wall and then garden, a total of 60ft..
I also don't have a large payload allowance so 30 - 40kg for a permanent mover would not be good.
Any advice appreciated..

Aahh!! that would be a problem, I do need it to pull up a 1 in 4 for about 20ft. I thought maybe the weight of the unit plus the noseweight of the van on a good surface would maybe stand a chance.

The movers that actually drive the wheels are the best option. Pricey but well worth it.

Agree but as I said its not the cost but the extra weight that matters to me. As I said I have a low payload.
I may have to consider going down that route but I am trying to seek out my options before making my mind up.

If it is just for use on your home driveway, have you considered a winch?? These are available 240V or 12V and come in various sizes with remote control. For example, Amazon have a 12v, 3500lb winch at £120.

Bear in mind the rated weights of a winch are for lifting, not rolling, so you don't need one that is rated anything like as heavy as the caravan unless you were planning on using it to suspend the caravan.

I read that when I was looking at that option some give you both lifting and rolling tolerances.
As I say it is an option and probably the best bang for the buck..
