We went to clean and check our caravan today and found the number plate on the floor.
We are glad it didn't fall off when we were travelling.
I need to get something to stick it back on.
In all our years caravanning this has never happened before.

Most people use double back sticky pads but make sure you clean the back of the number plate and the base it sticks to first to achieve a perfect bond.

It'll be the very hot weather. Do as Tango said and it should be ok. Pads available from any motor accessory retailer.

Dont use the cheap sticky pads that you can buy alomst everywhere, use the ones as millermicm says from a car acessory shop or the no more nails tape from a diy store.------------- David

My first thought as well. They don't usually "fall off" on their own------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static

Mine did when the weather was hot, it softened the glue. A trip to Halfords perhaps to get the proper ones.

We used Gorilla glue and its still on after a few years bumping around. Just do not let it drip outside it without you seeing it as its hard to get off. I just to sit in my wheelchair with my foot up on the number plate to keep it in place as we could not find how else to keep it in place.------------- Chrissie

I've had mine "fall" off several times when it's been stood on the drive. Never had it fall off on the move though. Still if the kids get their amusement from peeling the number plate off and leaving it on the ground, they are not breaking in; it's just a harmless prank, I suppose.
They haven't got it off since I put it on with a hot glue gun though.

Excuse me for asking, but why don't you use self tapping screws to keep your number plate on, that way you sure it wont fall off.

In my case, indeally so that the external skin is not punctured, trying to reduce the posibility any damp ingress to an absolute minimum.

Never ever make holes in a van that shouldn't be there.silicone or sticky pads is the way to secure a number plate IMHO------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static

The part of the van that my number plate is attached comes down below the level of the chassis and there is nothing behind it, it is not part of the outer skin of the caravan and that's why I was able to attach my number plate with self tapping screws; however as an added precaution I did also apply mastic around the screw holes, and the outer edge of the number plate before final fixing.

That makes sense in your case welshwyn but on a lot of vans, mine included there is a plywood panel behind it.
