I used stick on Velcro pads, about an inch square as I didn't have any sticky pads. I think there are 7 pads in total, evenly spaced along top and bottom with one in the centre.
I suppose you could get the same problem with the glue if it was hot though.
Maybe another option for you? Then if you prefer to remove the plate for any reason, you can do so easily and it's just as simple to put it back on.
