Ok got a 85A endurance leisure battery on caravan that I picked up last week. When I got home the LED screen for battery power was on low "red" and when tryed to use any appliance it would not work. Toke of and the glass eye was green so said had power ?? Put charger on for a few hours on slow 3A charge and tryed again on van. Now on 2nd led up but not stating 100% on van even though the charger said it was at 100% there are like 5 LEDs on van showing what power stage the battery is at if that help.
Take it ill need a multimeter to be 100% sure or does it sound done or should I charge for like 12hrs.
Had this problem myself when I first had my van. My local caravan centre told me If it's been left to go flat it can take upto 4 days to fully re-charge. And it did.
if left to drop below 12v charge it will be totally knackerd ,if your only going to use the van on EHU sites ,it will probably be fine though as your using the sites electric supply to run things and the 12v should not be put under strain .it will not power the likes of a motor mover though .the best was to charge these off the van is with a smart charger and that will take a few days .a normal car charger is less than useless
good luck
Thanks for the reply, Gonna leave my on baord charger going for a week or 2 and see what happens.
Im hoping to get a motor mover installed soon so need a good battery for that, Just find it strange as the test eye was green and charger said was 100% but van on board charger said Low
The problem with most caravan battery chargers is that they will only charge a battery to 85%. This is partly to prevent excessive gassing, but results in plate sulphation and reduced capacity over time. You need a smart charger (ctek or Ring make them) to ensure the battery is 100% charged. Smart chargers have a conditioning cycle that can reduce sulphation and recover some capacity, but if the plates are heavily sulphated you will probably need a new battery. This is not so much a problem if the 'van is kept on hookup - but if you need the mover for anything more than a short distance, the battery might not cope.
85amp battery, ring smart charger here. No van charger. Takes approx two days to charge on 4amp setting, then changes to maintenance mode. I run a motor mover up a sloped drive. I have a charged up spare battery in case the one on the caravan gets too low, but I've never needed to use it yet.
Ok, so you need a new one... this place looks good, Numax are good batteries as well. Make sure you measure the old one, generally, the larger they are, the bigger they are so you need to know the new one will fit in the space. I had a 75amp battery I needed to replace, and only an 85amp one would fit in the same space, so check carefully height, width and depth before you buy.

The guy who I'm looking to use to fit my motor mover quoted £85 for the numax 27 or £90 for the 31. Will have to double check size when I get home but quite a large battery bay.
