Having done a second trial run on the drive with the awning, we now know the correct way to put it up!
There are 36 of the yellow rubber loops for the pegs, I am right in thinking that all of these need to be pegged down?
Atm we only have the grass prhs so need to invest in some reliable hardstanding ones. Suggestions welcome!
Thanks...
You are right in making the assumption that you need a peg for each of the loops.
There are several of us that would only use the main part of the awning, without the windows, in high summer to use the awning as a sun visor. In those circs is is imperative that you use further means of securing the awning to the ground as it is all those pegs that keep the thing attached to the ground. Without those pegs on the bottom of the windows,it whole thing is liable to be picked up by the wind and blown over the caravan.
As for rock pegs, we've got a combination of manufactured ones with a spiral thread at the point and ones that look like 9" nails with a small cross of steel at the blunt end. Don't be tempted to use those thin metal tent pegs. They're far too flimsy.
------------- How come when some people visit the fountain of knowledge, they only gargle!!!
In the summer with no wind I have for just the weekend put a few pegs in but if the is any wind at all you need as many pegs as you can get. Storm straps also.
Have a look on towsure or similar websites they have plenty to look at.
Thanks both of you, I know it might have seemed a bit of a daft q but just wanted to be sure! Worth knowing about extra security when not using the windows too, hadn't thought of that!
I keep going back to the blue diamond screw pro pegs. Any thoughts please?
The full awning came with the van, tbh we could probably do with a porch awning but it's more expense we don't need at the moment. I don't even know where to start finding one to fit, need to do some research then keep a watchful eye on ebay!
Thanks again.
