I wondered if anyone may be able to help, unfortunately on Saturday a lady decided to re arrange our caravan it with her corsa, it didn’t end pleasantly for anyone. Both my Husband and I have injuries but are fine, same can be said for the person who sped into us as well.
In due course we are starting to look for a replacement, but I could really do with some help as we are after a few specific’s, and after having a hire caravan to continue on the above holiday this week, we know we would not want a more modern van, do not want a fixed bed and don’t want an end bathroom really. We would like a 5/6 berth and one with a bunk bed type layout. I remember seeing a few of this sort of layout
Realistically we are looking for a new to us van.
Does anyone know of anywhere that has a list of layouts or maybe make of van recommendations.
Hi i was looking for the same layout too & found these:
Lunar quaser 525
Luner zenith
Abbey spectrum 620
Elddis superstorm
Abbey vogue 650
Elddis avante 635 & 636
Elddis firestorm
Lunar galaxy 615
Compass rallye 636
Fleet wood heritage 640 es
Lunar quaser 615
Compass magnum 626
We have had both the end bathroom layout & fixed bed & neither worked for us. I'm picking up an Elddis Crusader Superstorm on Friday which has 2 sets of bunks but can also be used as a double. Good luck, let us know what you get.
Lunar quasar 546, similar to 615 but on single axle, still looking at around £10k for the earliest year in manufacture though which was 2009. Mind you all the end bunk / dinette models hold their value and are hard to come by.
we were in exactly the same position last year...speeding driver etc....he sucessfully wrote off both our caravan and his own car....totally missed our car!
we were not able to replace like for like as our twin axel was no longer available (we were buying new as were insured new for old)....so we ended up with a single axel Sprite Major 6. it has twin fixed bunk and also a fold out double bunk.
we did also look at a Sprite challenger sport 586 and couple of baileys, but dont recall which model that all also had a fixed bunk set-up.
i think the best thing is to pick up one of the caravan magzines as they have an easy refernce list for all current layouts.
Surprised no one has mentioned caravanfinder.co.uk yet as you can search on there by layout which is what you are after I believe.
I see someone has mentioned the Adria 542DK and we have teh other triple bunk model the DT whoch has a larger and more usable bathroom (AKA dressing room as well) but obviously less space between bunks
The Adria's do have proper full size beds for the bunks as well if that is an issue for you whereas almost all UK vans do not
I've been looking at the Adria 542DK for a while, though we won't purchase just yet as it's not the right time for us. Trouble is, I wanted to broaden my horizons a bit and make sure I've explored similar UK type vans. Went to see the Bailey Ranger GT60 with end bunks the other day. Loved the layout and the styling (kitchen was really great) but the bunks are tiny. My 9 year old really didn't like the bunks, particularly the lack of headroom, though at less than 2ft across, I can see the width being a real issue too, despite his skinny frame.
Great list above too, though I notice these are twin axles which aren't suitable for us, sadly.

Our near 9 year old prefers her Adria bunk to her bed at home as apparently its more comfortable!
Good luck with your research, we did the same, be interested to see where you end up. It certainly wasn't just about bed sizes for us
Looking forward to the comfort then! My son sometimes has problems getting to sleep. He's a real in his own head sort of person and his head whizzes along. Switching off can be a problem so he'll start to complain about the lack of room, or the quality of the bed or anything else just because actually he can't switch off. I could see him being a bit claustrophobic in a narrow triple bunk. I'm trying to avert any issues at the beginning. So, it's not all about the beds (Altea has the smallest double berth of the ones we've been looking at - boo!), but it's certainly a major factor for us. Adria comes out on top for most things. Bailey was great but my OH is 6ft 4" and had to stoop ever so slightly, regaining full posture only in the hekis! I think the Adria has an inch or so on the Bailey so that will be another factor. I love the perforated ducting aspect to the heating. I don't like to be cold!!
I've got an adria 542dk with fixed bunks and side bathroom it's brilliant rear dinette. Feels really spacious bunks are by far the biggest you'll get. Kids love it too x
Our coachman has this layout. It's based on an amara 570/6. Two fixed bunks with dinette opposite which makes into a second pair of bunks.
Good sized beds and the caravan is very solidly built.
Would definately recommend.
