I have just bought a motormover and intend to fit this when we get some dryer weather.
My question is, do I need a leisure battery or can I carry on using the car battery that I have always used in the van?
Cant see the point in spending £80 if the car one will do...
Its all about capacity. If the car battery is in good nick it might well be ok. If you need to use the mover for more than short distances you may need a higher capacity leisure battery.

car battery will not !!! be able to stand the xtra load as req. by mover.
you need to fit a 110 ampp leisure battery.
Car batteries have to push out a lot of Amps to turn over engines. Motor movers need lots of Amps too. The difference is in how long the car battery will keep going compared with a leisure battery.
Motor movers usually draw 60 to 120 Amps. Car batteries will deliver 600-700 Amps.
An 85 AH car battery will have exactly the same endurance as an 85 AH leisure battery

I purchased the same mover as you and it was fitted yesterday, the fitter said a 85amp/hr battery is sufficient as thats what that model of Powrtouch mover is designed to run on as long as battry is kept in good charged state.

Can't comment about a car battery though.

The problem with using a car battery is that they are not designed to be run down and then charged up on a regular basis as the plates are too thin.
The recommended battery for a mover is a semi-traction one which is a step up from a leisure battery. A 80 amp leisure battery however is the one that is commonly used.
Thanks for all your replies folks, am not moving the van very far so will see how the car battery fairs. If it wont, then I will go down the leisure battery route. Thanks again for all your help...
