Following on from a previous post about how many weeks of the year, we now have the chance to buy an 2005 Ace Morningstar 4 berth for £4,500. From having a look around on the internet this price seems excellent. What are folks views on here? Apparently the van is in excellent condition, only having been used four times in the past 6 years. I have not seen it yet but hubby and I do have to do some serious thinking to do if it is in as good a condition as said. I have no idea about extras, awning etc. Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for relating to it standing for so long.
You need to take a dmp meter and if you find places where the reading is higher than the high teens walk away. Ifit is dry it will need new tyres, prefereably beore you drive it home, and thn it will need servicing.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
If you can arrange for a mobile engineer to have a look at it first,and for the present owner to cover his fees,or part of them,that is the way I would go,if the van is sound,they wont have anything to hide,other then that,do you have a friend who is an experienced caravanner that could go along with you,saves a lot of heartache
Look for cracks radiating from the corners of the windows on the front panel, particularly where the rail joins the front panel to the roof. I know someone who had this on his Ace of the same year but got it fixed early, before it became a major damp problem.
