Is your red light right next to the pump switch though the same as mine? The OP seems to be referring to red light independently with no switch next to it so maybe a little more info on the red light may help.

You're welcome  and I was asking the very same question back in 2005 when I started caravanning so it's normal for a newbie. When you get the water barrel connected up and the system primed then you will see exactly how it all works.
