What about Insignia, The 2l estates are like 2200kg if i remember correctly

That would be the maximum gross weight the mass in service is between 1600 and 1700kg depending on the model.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Mondeo tows my 1500kg van no problems it is at about 95% but I also tow with or 4 passengers and a boot full of gear which realistically brings that figure down. My old car was 2001 passat also at about 95% towed thousands of miles never an issue

Have a look here; for VW Passat substitute Skoda Superb (towcar of the year 2011 &2012) - here.
Remember, Skodas are VW's with a different badge and lower price - all parts interchangeable!

Guys
apologies for the delay in responding.
may well look at the Mondeo then,
according to caravan club unless I had high spec audi it was not heavy enough.
apparently Passat now have an Alltrack 4 wheel drive but list price starts at around £28/29K which means I will get hammered on tax.
have also stayed away from ford as I have issues with the fact you can buy a brand new ford and withing 6 months its no longer the latest model ( I guess just me being me)
skoda superb apparently was not heavy enough either according to CC im guess they are not that accurate as my Hyundai i40 estate originally wasn't a match as they had wrong data

thanks to all
Jason
