Just been to sort out the storage for our new caravan which we pick up NEXT WEEKEND!!!
I am beside myself with excitement...which could only be surpassed if we managed to sell the FC this weekend...but thats not going to happen.
I haven't even seen the van...made the slightly dubious decision to let hubby go and choose it, but it's new, looks lovely in the brochure, so I'm sure it will be fine...even he's excited.
Just hope the weather is kind over the next few weeks, so we can get out and about in it.
Get out there, it does'nt matter what the weather will be doing.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Worth fitting the ultraheat electric conversion for the heating if you plan to use in colder weather. The kit costs £235 and is easy to fit yourself in around 3 hours, I fitted mine.

Ooooh...what's that? Dealer says the heating is both gas and electric...?
We have a Aleta 542dt too and I'm sure you'll love it. Used it loads this last year. Also going to take it over to France next year - looking at southern Brittany. As for the electric heating, we have a quote from dealer to fit - it is a lot more than the kit, but not sure how easy it would be to do myself.

Oooh checkley, your trip sounds so much more exciting than ours we are going to do the long drive down to dover, overnight there, then early morn ferry to calais for a steady days driving to hopefully camping Haliotis near mont st Michel for 11 nights, then reverse route. We are on a very tight budget at the moment but didn't want to not do it. If I've got my calculations right, it should come in just under £1000 (diesel and tolls in) for 13 nights for the 5 of us mid August. Then we just need spending money. We are going to see how we go with all the driving and maybe the next year do the longer western crossing and go further south with a possible move in the middle. The possibilities are soooo endless
How do you get on with your status aerial? And how much was it if you don't mind me asking? We have been using the satellite dish that came with the van, it only takes me about 5 mins from getting it out of the bag and I'm considering taking a spare sky box with us for the kids. But it is another piece of kit to carry and another bit of setting up to do once on site. We didn't get the electric bit fitted for the heating as we couldn't stretch to another few hundred quid at the time, thought we would see how we got on with our blow heater as it has a thermostat. Good test for it coming up as we are doing 5 nights at new year, first service due in May so might get it done if pennies allow
I wonder if the forum has anything to do with the growing number of Adria owners? I'd not heard of them to be honest until someone posted about them on here, once I viewed one, I knew it was the van for us! It will be interesting to see if we are all still as happy in 5 years as we are now as we are all made up with them
Worth having a look at the fitted sheets site...I generally just get the sewing machine out, but if they're not to expensive, it would be easier to have them made.
We've been looking at Biarritz...generally just do Vendee or Charente Maritime - we like to stay in one place whilst having the child...maybe more open to touring when she's a bit older.
Hi Shelleybobs, driving in france is such a breeze compared with driving here in the uk. The roads are generally smoother which makes for a more comfortable tow and you can quite easily cruise along at 70.
The status aerial was fitted by Venture, £199 supplied and fitted including all connections. We find it great for UK use, won't work in france but the tv is a last resort wet weather item so we don't use overseas.
Shelleybobs...driving in France is a dream...we've done dover - calais crossing and then down to the vendee in one day (we always stayed overnight at Asford the night before), but that was before we got the folding camper and were staying in eurocamp statics...we then got the FC and because we didn't feel safe leaving it in the travelodge car park and it wasn't really practical for an overnight stop, we did the overnight ferry from portsmouth to st malo then caan to portsmouth overnight home and although it is very expensive, it made things so much easier. Now we will have the caravan and an overnight stop will be easier, think we'll be doing dover - calais again, but perhaps try to get as far down as Biarritz.
thanks for the sheets info Checkley...I'll look at that.
You enjoy it, whatever the the weather, thats the beauty of a caravan, nothing better than it raining outside and you are all warm and cosy on the inside.

Are we not limited to 56mph in France if the gross train weight of car is over 3500 kg?
