I was considering buying one from Jandi, in Livingston (Scotland). They wanted £1000 import fee on top of the cost of the eriba itself. But I think it's the same uk wide. What model are you after? Jandi are lovely people and very helpful
Really the largest possible. It's a compromise between DH & myself. I love tent camping, he wants a caravan. The Eriba touring range are the only ones I'd consider-not that there's anything wrong with other vans, just not for me.
------------- 2015 7 weeks booked! Roll on Easter to start.
New or secondhand? Secondhand probably not, new only because large German dealers often do cut price special offers. Probably easier to buy in Belguim, you might save a few £100s, but bear in mind warranty will only be valid in country of purchase. Buyers make the mistake of thinking caravan warranties are Europe wide, same as cars & they are not. € is down to 84p now so maybe worth a punt.
The previous UK Eriba dealer at Letchlade treated grey import Eribaists who wanted service/repairs as pariahs & chased them away with a blunt instrument. Company is now defunct after French factory closed. All Eribas are now made in Germany.
It depends how 'continental' you are. If you are used to driving over there & take most of your caravan hols in Europe then possibly you will save a bit by buying abroad but otherwise might not be worth it.
Place to look for Eribas in Germany is on mobile.de Loads of dealers & secondhand private sellers. For Belguim & Holland go on Hymer website & click for dealers in those countries. & then check dealer websites. English is widely spoken in al 3 countries so no language probs.
Probably not worth buying new. £17k for a caravan that size is hardly cost effective. Ebay usually has plenty of older examples & you can find Eribas going back to the 80s in almost perfect condition. Not all of them though, check even newer 'vans carefully for for rust in the underside chassis frame as bad rust is difficult to repair so not worth buying in that state.
Prices for old ones are now ridiculous & little better accross the water, but even if you pay £3k for a 1990 in good nick it should be the last caravan you ever need to buy.
We brought our hymer in Belgium in 2006 at that time the van was £14995 in the uk, we paid £10400.When the van was under warranty we used to visit the dealer on route to france if you got the boat to Dunkirk it was only about 40 mins drive. The dealer is called Campirama when we used to go there 80% of there business was with the English. The euro is not in your favour but if you transfer that kind of money you will still get 1.30 so properly still very viable depending on how often you go to Europe

just agreeing with Jack+Jon's comment about 90's Eribas

If you like the Deseo then buy one, good build quality but not really what most UK buyers would want. Its a basic caravan just for sleeping & cooking in. Ensure its what you want for many yrs to come because trade in value in the UK would be poor.
