Hello all,

Been to check on my 1999 ABI Sprinter today and i am a bit concerned about the door.

Rain water is running along the top sill of the bottom stable door (if that makes sense, I mean where the two parts of the door seperate).

Not sure if the door is designed to do this or if it needs a repair. There is a channell inbetween the two parts of the door with a plastic strip on the top, water has got under the strip.

After leaving I started to wonder if making sure the van is level would help (so that the water runs straight down the door).

I am going to cover the van anyway for the winter which will probably stop the water from running around the door, of course though I need to get it dry first.

Would you be concerned about this or is it normal?

its hard to explain  but I think the door might be designed to cope with water inbetween the upper and lower part of the stable door becuase it has a channell running right the way accross the door. If water runs down the vertical edge of the door it has no way of stopping it running inbetween the two parts and along the channel.

I will have to have a look at some other caravan doors and see what they look like.

yes inside of door does appear dry. my main concern was firstly if its normal? and secondly can the water penetrate into the underskin of the door and cause damage.

Little chance of water geting into van because the way the door is designed it has a channell all the way round so water will run down this and drain out of the bottom.

Was just worried the door may get water damaged and it would be hard to replace on a van of this age.
