Hi, Everyone.
I am new to caravanning so I am still finding my way about. My problem is that the circuit breaker which controls the water heater, fire and sockets keeps tripping out. Even with a very minimum of accessories on. Is it unreasonable to have the water heater, fire and 2 sockets in use. It is a 230v pitch. We have had it plugged in in the past and there has been no problems. Even with one utility active it still trips now. It doesn't trip immediately and sometimes it can take ages before it goes. Can anyone identify the problem please and how to fix it?
Thank you.

You need to check what the maximum amperage is that the site allows per pitch. Many allow only 10 amps so you can't run eveything

Water heater 3.9 amps

Fire - depends on what wattage you have it set on. Divide that by 230 and that gives you the amps

The sockets....what are you running off those? If its an electric kettle that may be drawing a lot of amps. We use a gas boiling kettle for that reason.

If the site only permits 10 amps you may need to turn something off when switching something new on. Once the water has heated up that can be turned off if you pop the electic kettle on. Turn fire down to 500 watts.

Microwave, whilst using low amperage, can use a lot when first switched on.

Get yourself a list of every piece of electrical gear, check its wattage and divide by 230 to work out what amps it draws and then you will know what combinations you can have on without tripping.

Failing that you may have a wiring problem if not with the van, perhaps with some appliance you have bought from home.

Phil

Thanks Phil. It trips with only one thing on. We are going to buy some new fuses today and replace the water heater, fire and sockets fuses, in case some have become worn. If that doesn't work then I don't know. Everything was working fine 3 weeks ago so it does work and has done previously.
