Anyone been out shopping then snapping up some bargains for the new season?

We have just treated ourselves to a new porch awning snapping up a used once model Kampa Rally 390 including the monsoon poles from a Kent dealer for £219 in grey. Seem to be around £250+ without pole everywhere else and very little second hand

Hi Sunshinetours, looks like you had a very good deal there, so Well Done you We haven't really thought about deals for the caravan, but perhaps we should as we really want a four season awning. Wished we hadn't used the awning we had with the caravan thinking back as we could of sold it and used the money to buy the one we really wanted, but there you go...hindsight lol. Not sure what the going rate is for a once put up Kampa Carnival size 15 (upto a 1000cm)awning would be?

Happy New Year to you xx

Hi Appleby

An early Happy New Year to you aswell!

Aren't you seasonally pitched from memory, if so what is wrong with the carnival as this is a full awning that presumably you could leave up with additional support and bracing?

As far as price is concerned they seem to be between £450 and £650 or so brand new, so if you are selling "as new" may be worth a trawl of ebay or ads on here/Preloved/Gumtree to see what others have sold for.

I would say maybe Spring is better time to try and sell at a better price also.

We have used a large porch awning both on our previous folding camper and now caravan and wouldn't even consider buying a full awning again now as they are so good and only a small compromise over a full awning if you choose wisely on the porches (the Kampa ones are fantastic quality for the money I think)

Anyway good luck with your search and happy camping for 2014 - off to plan a couple of weeks for the summer in Germany later :)

Think the rail is only on the Club and above version isn't it, in which case we can't use that as only have the normal Rally. Shame as looks a useful feature.

Will get the integrated storm straps though as they seem worth having on all time as don't touch the "canvas" so no wear there and any extra support is always worth having IMO on any awning

Nothing been bought for our van, you'll have to let us know how the 390 fits Sunshinetours! We were considering getting one as we are very impressed with the 260 plus but were worried about if it would void the windows or anything and not got round to measuring it yet! Happy new year to you all

Dead pleased with my Kampa Rally 390 bargain - brand new, this year's model, £249 and he chucked in the rear poles as well. Took a deal of persuasion but he came round to my way of thinking in the end.....

I'd love to know how robust that hanging rail is.

Does anyone know if it would hold (for instance) two wet wetsuits - without damaging the awing?

A slight deviation but still on topic of sale bargains for caravan, I find pound shops have endless bargain possibilities for your van. Yesterday we bought a cake cover and stand for £1 which we intend to use as a covered tray while abroad, for carrying fridge stuff out to table on our sunny pitch, saves lots of trips to and fro(we are getting on a bit)and covering away from flies wasps ect while eating.who would have thought that spending a mere £1 could get me so excited !lol
Has anyone else found bargains for their vans at a pound shop?love to hear them.

It is robust to hold 4 / 5 coats and 3 or 4 wet towels quite comfortably, i would say the 2 wetsuits would be okay IMO

Thanks James, I was a bit concerned when I discovered exactly how heavy a wetsuit is when you've just hosed it down. We recently bought the Kampa Rally 260 Pro so I might look out for that hanging rail.

I think the hanging rail attaches to the upper poles and I would be concerned about putting a full wet wetsuit on something like this as the downforce on the poles and potentially more importantly on the awning rail must be significant

I am going to get one for our new Rally Club awning but will only be for lightweight jackets or maybe a wet towel or two
