Sorry if this topic has been covered before but I'm lost and need a bit of help.
On a recent trip my pump failed
What were the circumstances of this failure? Did it just stop with a tap open? These pumps are usually long lived, unless it has been allowed to run dry perhaps, when they burn out...
I av a elddis caravan 2000 i av just fitted a new water pump soctet the water is in the pipes and the water is hot in the pipe but no water is coming out ov tapes i can hear it in the sink and shower as if its trying to come out .i think it might be somthing to do with the presure is thr a presure switch any wr if it is that
Hi All, Sorry for joining an existing thread but I have a water pump problem with a slight difference, its intermittent and its dammed annoying.
It is a 2012 Lunar Quasar with External Truma pump and a Whale Pressure switch. I go from EHU on club sites to Rallies so are used to resetting the pressure switch due to changing voltage level but very occasionaly the pump will not run. Today I caught it while testing it at home as follows:
System primed and air free. Use a tap and water runs, switch clicks and the pump starts all OK. Then suddenly Switch clicks BUT pump does not start.
Remove pump from barrel to test.
All OK - About 3.5ohms across the terminals where ever the impeller stops. Then check power on metal contacts in van socket at its Zero Volts - Red light is on in the pump master switch. - So I think 'its the switch'
So I bridge the switch with a piece of wire expecting the pump (now back in place) to start and nothing happens.
Back outside to check voltage on terminals and its about 0.5 Volt and as I watch the meter it rises slowly to 13.47 (van is on a mains hook-up). Plug in pmp and of course it runs ok.
So my question - "Where do I look for a thyristor or something which is failing suddenly but then coming back in several minutes later. It feels like some sort of protection device but Where is it?
