As has been said, the most important consideration when arranging storage is the distance away from home. Good spots can be hard to find in our area and most sites have waiting lists. Security at storage sites should be carefully checked out, as well as times for access. If you have limited times when you can get in and out of the storage, this can be a nuisance when planning your trips away in the van. On one storage site we used to use there were facilities available for cleaning the van too (with ladders, hardstanding, water etc) which was very handy when the van needed a good clean up. Some storage sites don't like mobile servicing done on the pitch so worth asking about this too. We currently pay £400 pa (payable 6 monthly in advance) for a very secure site which, most important for us, is only a 5 minute drive from home. We leave all the essentials in the van during the season so all we have to pack to take with us are clothes and basic foodstuffs. All bedding, liquids, towels etc. are removed before winter sets in and because the storage spot is close to home, we pop in regularly to check all is ok.
