Hi everyone,

Iknow this is a camping forum but this is the only forum i am apart of, and it has alot of people with alot of knowledge !

Im having some insurance trouble as i was involved in a car accident that was not my fault! (Im 19 but i do drive sensible, i drive an astra estate 1.7 and i tow my own van im far from a boy racer)

Anyway the person who hit me accepted liability straight away to his and my insurance

Luckily i am fully comp with courtesy car, and legal cover and i didnt have to pay any excess !

My car then was taken away by his insurance and a courtesy car was supplied to me, as you would expect

Anyway my car went to new platt motors in northwich cheshire, for it to be repaired, why they didnt write it off is beyond me!

The problems i found with my car where
Left side wing
Bumper
Air condenser
Washer bottle
Drop link bar
Suspension leg
Tracking was out
Headlight
Slam pannel damaged

That is the all above what was wrong with my car, anyway

A bloke from the garage came to my house, started my car and drove it away! Yes! They drove my damaged car away!

Upon return of the car, all visual things where repaired

But underneath they had only
Replaced a shock obsorber and used my old spring (wich could be fractured)

"Forgotten" to put a drop link bar on

Bumper was scratched the mouldings where scratched

Washer bottle was leaking still

Air condenser was still smashed!

And that's not the worst of it!

They returned the car to me on a low loader
And the car would not start! And they driven my car away! And they have the cheek to return it as a non runner!

They are blaming it on general wear and tear? Surley they can't do this, once the car is in their possesion it is their responsibility, and they certainly should not have driven it away,

Im annoyed that the car was returned unsafe and not starting after the car was running prior to them taking it

Anyway, they then take the car back to the garage and supply me with yet another car, and they only manage to fix nothing at all, they returned the car back in the same condition

And still the insurance are refusing to fix my alternator or battery because "its not accident related"

My ecu got damaged in the accident but they said they don't need to check it because its fine apparently ?

And now the car has got to go back for the 3rd time to get everything rectified properley!

But they are still refusing to fix the starting issues ?

Even tho the car was running when they took it ?

And they won't give me a curtesy car until my car and parts are on sight!

What is everyone's verdict and advice on this ?

I think its very unfair considering i have a recipt for a recent alternator and full service history with my car! Prior to my accident the car has never skipped a beat and has always started spot on!

Any help or advice would be great

Insurance company's just want to worm their way out, an my insurance wich is Hastings said "its nothing to do with them" what the hell am i paying them for ?

Please be kind im new to this forum!

Thank you

Daylem94 I think you will get more response to your post if you put it in the Life in General Forum.

Do hope though that you get things sorted.

Do you take out any legal protection with your insurance? If so I would suggest talking to them.

If I was you I would not accept the car back until it is back to how it was, I know it is a pain not having a car but there shouldn't have been any problems when it came back,

To be honest I would have thought they would have wrote it off as the list looks like it would cost more than a replacement car,

Good luck and hope everything works out for you in the end

If alternator & battery have no visible damage it will be difficult to prove their failure is due to accident. Is the non staring due to failed battery or failed alternator? If alternator was recently fitted & has failed then you have a warranty claim on that anyway. I would lean on your insurance co. though because they should not be paying repairer until repairs are completed properly, this aside from the starting issues.

Replace ort fix the battery or alternator. As said not if undamaged by the accident.

Running even with jump leads or a boosterpack then i would say thats acceptable.

Battery may have died whilst being worked on. Doors and lights on drained it.

The issue is the 3rd party have paid for repairs not your insurer. Do you have legal cover?
Give them a call and see what they have to offer.

You may have to accept the car back and get the fault diagnosed. If found to be something they did/didn't do then you can take them to the small claims.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
