We are looking to buy a caravan over the next month and wondered which company to use for insurance.

Do most companies insure all age caravans as we are probably looking at some around 1995

Thanks

don't think age is an issue. We used Caravan guard. Good insurance at a reasonable price. Banner link above and top right hand corner.

Age can be an issue as I struggled to find anyone to insure my 44 year old van. The CC were one of the few places to even give me a quote!
You shouldn't have too much trouble with a 90s van.

Some have a 20 year limit so double check before wasting your time.

Recently renewed the Insurance for our Unicorn Barcelona so before renewing tried Caravan Guard to my shock & horror their quote was way above some £150 more than the Caravan Club renewal quote for exactly the same policy…..so we stuck with the Caravan Club

We are with the CC, very impressed with the way our claim was handled after our previous van was stolen and the premium only increased by £100. This year the premium is back down to its former level.

The problem with insurance on an old caravan might be the amount they're prepared to pay out for a total loss.

Once you've made a claim it might be upsetting to find out they think your pride & joy is only worth £200 (for example).

For what it's worth, we made a claim on our Saga Caravan insurance for a (wind) damaged Awning & they drove us crazy because all their questions were based on the firm conviction we were talking about a car!

"Is it still drivable?" "No. Its an awning!"
What's the Registration?"
"Please get a quote for repairs from your Garage"
"We cannot provide a courtesy car whilst it is being repaired."
This was not just one conversation, but every time we contacted them.

Incidentally, they did pay up in the end.
