I know there must be a very simple answer but when we try to use string it falls out of the channel at each curve. It's important I get it right as it's an expensive mistake to make.
Our vans paperwork doesn't say. I've only found one answer on the net of 10.6 yet the British supplier says 10.4. Surely those two answers are different size awnings so I need to get it right. Thanks
It's not in the astella brochure for 2012. Adria have confirmed this.
They say 10.4 but not with enough certainty to convince me. As I say I read 10.6 somewhere, my piece of string which kept falling out seemed to be just over 10.5 so I do need to make sure. Hubby would kill me if I buy an expensive awning and it's wrong!!!
Interestingly, I checked my Bailey Provence on the Isabella link above. Bailey give the awning measurement as 1008, I had my Pyramid awning altered accordingly and it fits perfectly. Isabella's measurement is 1000. Are their centimetres slightly bigger?
I was going to say about level and sloping pitches and adjustment in awning length needed.
Problems arise if you have a perfect fit on a level pitch it won't fit well or at all if the pitch slopes away under the awning. ie, if van needs jacking just 2" (50mm) then awning needs twice this to still fit.
Awning generally come in 10" or 250mm stages, measure your awning rail ground to ground following the angle of the van ends to the ground.
Required awning size then is closest to this without going under.
Any excess on a level pitch is then taken up and pulled taught by use of the wing flaps which are there for this purpose. These wings are also useful as it they give extra space inside the awning on a level pitch and you won't be caught out on a sloping pitch!
We are on a seasonal pitch so it will always be in the same place which is hard standing. I'm confused as I thought the two different measurements 10.4 and 10.6 equate to different size awnings. Do I buy the one up to 10.5 which adria say or the next size up? Thanks.
