Hi
Just wondering how easy it is to source wraparound seats units to replace the front cupboards in caravans with parallel seats. We are currently looking to part ex our L shaped lounge 'van but really do not want parallel seats ( we've had them before and they don't suit us as a family).
It appears that there are very few L shaped lounges in more recent caravans and we are happy to try the wraparound seats instead.
As we have a rather long list of "must haves" if we can change the cupboard in some vans we may have more choice.
But one concern is that some seating is very moulded so I'm not really sure if these can be modified as well.
Would appreciate any thoughts
I think certain makes are easier than others, Bailey have their own spares shop on the net?(I think), I see a few on eBay for Swift ect, I have a coachman and I got mine from eBay, Never seen another since.
The wrap around seat is only suitable for a very small child as it is very small front to back. Combined with parallel seats you now have 3 sets of legs in the middle.
The Bailey chest comes out easily enough and you need to buy the cushions but I wouldn't bother although they do look nice. I think the chest is the most useful option.
Being just the two of us, we have the best of both worlds so to speak. During the day, when our grandaughter comes with us, we leave the bedslats out about 18inches, secure the rear ones from returning by insering a kitchen roll pole type holder to the rear which we keep for the purpose, and insert a piece of foam bought on line to the correct dimentions which l have covered with a piece of toning fleece that can be removed for washing.
Our gradaughter loves it and calls it her special seat to watch tv on. When shes not with us, it makes a handy foot rest during the day, and we still get all the storage space and practicalities of having our chest. The depth of it is a personal preferance and can be adjusted by having more or less slats bunched up at the front, then buying the size of foam insert to fit the gap.
The whole project only cost us about £20, and is completely removable and transfereable to another caravan if you ever trade up.

What a clever idea Julie. There's only the 3 of us and we can all lounge quite comfortably in our L shaped lounge (and eat at the table too) but I would miss not being able to put my feet up in the evening. The wraparound seats are just wide enough for me to do that and there's still room for the dog - on the floor of course. I have sat in them too and as mine is the largest posterior in our family I shall make my son sit there in the emergency situation such as friends popping in for drinks.
Thanks again for the comments
Alison
Used to have L shaped lounge in the last van, which we loved, so when we bought the new Bailey Unicorn we went for changing the drawers for additional cushions, they cost around &200.
Depending on the size of your dog, theres still plenty of room under the slats for a curled up pooch in a soft style dog bed. Our dog is to eldery and too large to fit undernieth, but my daughters two JRT crossbreeds used to curl up happily undernieth in our last caravan. It also makes a handy storage area for pairs of shoes.

We have just bought a 2010 Bailey Pagent Bregagne and like you traded out L shaped lounge for one parallel seating and a chest of drawers.
We knew that this wouldn't suit our family as the L shaped was fabulous so we spoke to the selling dealer who located a set of wrap around cushions in the same fabric and threw them in with the deal. We now have the drawers in the loft for when we sell and the wrap around seating we prefer. Like you, I like to put my feet up and this fits the bill perfectly. Plus the kids can sit there when necessary.

We went the other way and replaced the cushions with the chest. As said what we replaced was useless for anybody except a small child.

Well we have decided on a Pegasus 534 with wraparound seats. I know that it doesn't suit everyone. But then there wouldn't.t be so many different models out there if we all liked the same. This is the closest we have got to a perfect layout for us. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the sale all goes well but if it doesn't.t I think we have decided on this model or layout at least. Thanks for all your help
