Does anyone take their pet Cat away with them in their caravan ?

I have a semi house Persian cat who only goes in and out of our secure back garden....he's 10yrs old no not bothered for escaping out but I think he frets if I leave him at home with a cat sitter....

We have taken him away in the van for 2 nights and he seemed to be ok and looked like he enjoyed it....however we have a week booked away soon....Not hot weather....we are planning on putting an awning up so he's gonna have more roaming to do....he's not very street wise so we won't be letting him venture out....we was thinking of making a make shift baby gate for the awning entrance....

does anyone have the same situation   ?

tips please....

Thank you 😊

I did once see a cat being walked on a lead on a campsite so obviously some people do take their cats. Cat pee though is particularly potent so I wouldn't want to have to pitch a tent where one had been spending a penny. I try not to think how many dogs might have been fouling my pitch previously

Be careful though because many years ago I used to take my cat boating on the Norfolk Broads. She was an indoors cat and didn't go anywhere much. I used to walk her along the tow path just to stretch her legs and all was fine until the very day we were due to return the boat and the cat suddenly made a bid for freedom and we couldn't find her. We were devastated but had to take the boat back so asked another boater to look out for her. Fortunately, when we got back there by car she had been found.

We have taken our Bengal cat, who is a house cat, away with us too for a couple of nights, she was fine, litter tray in the bathroom etc. Dont know about a week as our van is only a small two berth. Would worry if we used the big awning and let her loose in it as i am sure she would find some way to get out of it, even with the draft skirts pegged down well. Never say never though.

I know someone who takes his cat away in his motorhome and they go all over France and Spain. We were sat having a drink with them and I suddenly saw the cat at the window, I had only had one glass!!!

Hi
we have an indoor cat, half British short hair.He loves coming out with us in the van,he goes for walks on his lead and harness and has his litter tray in the bathroom. When he goes out in the awning we are always watching him.But he has been all over the UK with us and just loves it,as we do having him with us.

We used to take our previous cat with us with no issue however we now have two cats who are still basically kittens.
Both have a location device attached to their collars that works up to 400m plus all the usual microchipping.

Ive seen cats with a harness on tethered to their cat box on the end of a washing line. The cat gets a bit of fresh air, but cant 'leg it' if spooked, as the box acts as an anchor. Theres always the chance the cat will slip its harness, but otherwise it seems a good idea.

Dont think id do it myself, but its seemed to work the 2 or 3 times ive witnessed others 'risking it'.
