 Oxalic acid removes rust stains on things like fabric where you can immediately wash it out. I would try it on a bit of hidden paintwork first. I have no idea if it is safe to use in this application.

I have a horrible feeling though that your stain will be right through the paint itself.

So probably best if you want to test it to try on a spot that can be covered with a stick on reflector.

oliver - I am not discounting anything at the moment even the T-cut but other comments I have read say not to use T cut on caravan paint as its a cutting compound and may remove the marks but may affect the paint in the future

JTQU - its not gone right through the caravan paint as I have managed to remove some - just that it takes some rubbing to get off

seem to be winning on the sides, T cut on damp cloth then Autoglym SRP and then greased lightning on top with its carnauba wax. Bringing up a nice shine.

Also tried a little Autoglym Paint renovator in a small area that worked

Just wondering now about doing the front and back which are GRP. Should I use T cut on GRP or are there other products more suited?

only Autoglym paint renovator and t-cut have worked for me. Mainly used t-cut on wet cloths for the sides.

Concern is will t-cut cause front and back GRP panels to go yellow or should I dilute it?

Autoglym have said use super resin polish on GRP before paint renovator as this may leave shiny patches.

Hoping silky cream cleaner will work on roof and make job easier as spots here are smaller otherwise long job using t-cut then super resin polish then a wax

Did the fenwicks scratch remover leave a shiny area after removing the rust spot? what did you put on panel after this?

thanks Rizzo, might give that a go then and put SRP over all of panel after.

Have noticed that even after t-cutting all of one side and then SRP that at certain angles you can still see shiny/dull areas. ok looking square on but when look down length of van can see a difference.

Only polishing by hand though as reluctant to use a buffer
