Along the road no, manouvering in confined spaces, yes because you need more room. With a longer caravan you are more likely to clout the nearside rear corner as you turn right out of narrow entrances unless you take that into account.
Its always good to have an assistant standing to front of vehicle were you can see them & where they can keep an eye on rear corner of 'van as you pull out. No second chance with a caravan, hit something even gently & you will damage it.
