Ime looking for a caravan cover because Ive got damp in the van and been told to get it covered asap, but Ive looked at 2, one being a towsure one or a riversway cozi. Does anyone have experience of either of one...
I've got the Riversway cover with the 4 corner zips which I think is called the cozi. It is just finishing its third winter and it has been fine apart from a little bit of rubbing from the straps. The type with 4 corner zips is much easier to put on. I have always thought that all these own brand covers come out of the same factory so for me the choice was made based on the price.
Thank you rob and tina, yes the price has an impact of my decision. Towsure and riversway are much the same price, so its reviews i wanted but that is a bit difficult because there arent any lol. Thanks again
How is a cover going to stop or cure damp? Unless you are never going to use the van in wet weather ever again, ok, no more rain will get in, but the damp wont go away, it will just fester. You need to find out where its getting in and fix it.
My cover was a Protec, and it wore the paint surface off!
The chap who serviced it said, when it is covered it will slow the damp down and may even stop it altogether, but the cover has to be on all year round, I know its a bit of a pain but if it prolongs the life of the caravan what what i have to do. I have just received the riversway one, it looks very good, so this weekend clean the van and try to get it on
If damp/moisture is getting in, its going to still get in when the van is out and about. Covering it can only keep the rain out on your drive. You cant stop the ingress if it gets rained on in transit or on site.
You need to know how much damp there is, and look to stop it getting in. Throwing a tarp over it isnt the answer. And id question the knowledge of the bloke who reckons it could be.
We have just removed our 'Specialised Covers' cover. It has been on since last September and our van is perfect - just as we put it away. no rub marks, windows perfect even with all those gales it never budged, a really great fit.
We are great fans of caravan covers and have been using them for years partly as we live adjacent to Oak trees but I don't think it is your damp solution, you should get that problem fixed first - then cover.
If you are trying to stop damp a cover won't help. Spend the money instead getting the damp sorted, Covers let the water in but not the dirt. They have to breath!!
I thought this but I have bought a cover now which cost 89.00, but the chap who serviced it said it will cost £2000 to get the damp done and that is something I dont have, but he said If I do nothing I will have 2 seasons left. I was devastated when he told me the news
I have 70% damp in the offside top corner and the same in the botton corner under the wardrobe and 60% around the battery box,
What a terrible shame you have my heartfelt sympathy. I might be inclined to get some other quotes on the repair as you are going to find the constant covering a pain apart from the worry of whether the problem is worsening despite your efforts. Chin up and all the best!
aaww thanks jaygo, its only 2001 and ive had it only 2 years next week, i am really upset about it and i am worrying now abobut covering it and uncovering it. Its so stressfull

Oh, so sorry to hear this. When I bought my little van it had been in a garage, so I didn't know it leaked like a sieve until I got it home, and sold as seen, so no comeback. I was gutted, knowing what I had read about water ingress.
Well over the years, I fixed one leak, another sprang up somewhere else, fixed that, carried on.
If you put a cover over it, then at least no more water is getting in and making it worse. That's why I bought my cover. Although the leaks are all sorted (touching wood here!) over winter and spring I would really rather not have it spring a leak somewhere and have water ingress continuing and making things worse.
Like others have said, I would get a few more quotes on that repair.
Cover it first. That will stop it getting worse. Then dry out the inside if possible. Then sort out the leaks one at a time.

Hi Rob
I have to mention this to perhaps help someone.
I am glad to hear that your Riviera cozi D. cover done 3 winters! We have the same cover but after the first 10 months we have had to get replacement under their 2 years Guarantee!
Most of the straps and velcro disintegrated, the top layer of the 3 layers that the grey sides material is made of, started biodegrading exposing the middle layer and the white roof which was made from some very thin and flimsy material got holes everywhere. After sending a few pictures to the shop that we bought it from, they sent a replacement which now the roof is made of the same material as the sites made of (3 layers).
The reason behind this I think is that the caravan is stationed in Bulgaria and there the UV index is 9, where the UK has index of 4-5. So bear that in mind if you plan to park your van in the sun in MED as most Mediterranean places have similar sun strength. For UK I have no doubt that it will be ok.Now I am covering the cover! with tarpaulinsIt is not waterproof IMO. The places that the tarpaulins do not cover get socked after a rain!.
Otherwise the cover looks GREAT the first time I covered the van. The strong sun will kill the cover!!!
IMO This Cover is for a Christmas only! Looks better in the pictures of the box that is shipped in.
------------- I came with nothing and managed to keep most of it.
