Don't know if its my age or what but, just had a break in Garstang in my lovely Adria Adiva, whilst driving around I saw a small caravan sales pitch so decided to stop and have a nose around, there was a Adria Adora for sale so we asked for the key and had a look around it.
The end result was we ended up part exchanging our van for the Adora.
The thing is,the owner/salesman was not pushy or anything like that,he came to our site, inspected my van damp tested it and offered a fair price,He also said that he would swap my motor mover and put it on the new van free of charge,I could leave my van there,go back Monday and transfer everything from the old van to the new one.
Is there anyone else done the same or similar to that,My first holiday of the year has left me with a somewhat empty wallet.
I have always enjoyed a tent for camping but the wife has been hinting that maybe we should go and have a look at Caravans so that we can extend our camping season. The very first sales place we went to today had a Avondale Rialto that we both liked so we are now the owner of it .....
We went and stayed at warwick racecourse CC site in our old van so we could go to the horse of the year show. I said we might as well got to the caravan and motorhome show as well as they were only a few days apart. While we were there we bought our present van. We didn't go there to change van.
I once went to buy a gas mantle for my old Sprite Alpine and came back with a newer model! Also once went to view a house for sale - and bought the caravan on the drive.
I went into the local caravan dealers to buy a 12vbug killer and signed on the dotted line for a replacement van an hour later.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
My biggest impulse buy was in the early 70's when I stopped at a filling station in Glasgow for petrol on the way home, it was also a Main VW Dealership.
One hour later I was the owner of a brand new Volkwagen Beetle which I loved..happy days!

It is a fool who has to say something.
We came back from tenting in France and went to Carcraft a few days later to idly look at suitable replacement vehicles. Three hours later we drove home in our VW Touran, leaving the Astra estate with them, complete with camping debris.
I try only to visit caravan shows or dealers every three years if possible as I invariably end up with a new caravan. I try and buy anything I need for the van on the internet.
Im trying to put off a trip to my local dealers to buy a new bottle of Fenwicks Bobby Dazler, l know that once im in there, l may come home with a couple of new chairs, a new step, and even more scarey, a new windbreak with a matching Kampa Airbeam Awning, eek.
I think l will be safer buying my Fenwicks online, the rest of the goods we already own perfectly good alternatives for!
This awning malarkey is getting as addictive as tent collecting once was, if l buy the Airbeam, that will be the 3rd Kampa awning we own, plus two Pup tents, and 2 sleeping pods for the awnings, oh no, im running out of awning rails to put them all up at the same time
------------- Just love to be out amoungst Nature and Wildlife
Celebrating 37 years of Caravanning in 2019, Recently Considered Retiring, but Totally Addicted for Life!
We camped in Bellingham in September 2011, we put the tent up in a gale and it took us ages. We talked to the people caravanning next to us and they showed us their caravan. On the way home was called into Knowpark Caravans and the salesman showed us a couple of vans then left us alone to wander round and look at all we wanted, no pressure so we bought our caravan that was then under 2 years old and in perfect condition. It came with motor mover, leisure battery and spare wheel. An expensive impulse buy but we have never regretted it.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
We stayed near Stirling May 2013 in our trailer tent and after one very windy and wet night went looking at caravans, managed to come away not buying anything and decided to stick with the trailer tent. However a month later my husband popped into the local dealers for some toilet chemicals and put a deposit on an Avondale Mayfair without me even seeing it.
