Hi all am new to this. I have a coachman with a bunk and I can not for the life of me figure out gow to set it up! Not sure if there are parts missing or not. The bunk pulls out when unbolted and then you are supposed to unfold the base which eill not move as it hits the top cupboards! Wont work if I pull it completely out and open it as then I cant get it back In :( there are 4 white metal u brackets on the wall below the bunk, do these have anything to do with it? Any help much appreciated.
Not sure this is any help whatsoever:
My bunk goes on brackets under the cupboard - I have to Unclip it, pull it out and place it on the lower sets of brackets. It then unfolds and stays rested on the lower sets of brackets. There is a soft back to it that clips to the window frame and stops it slipping off the bracket
Quick question first to see what type of bunk you have, when folded, does your bunk travel level with the seats, or is it fixed below your rear cupboards?
Our old Coachman had the first type, which was cantoleavered, and came forward, then needed a flip over before it would go any further. The legs came down to rest on the rear of the seat bases and were of a U shape, one at each end, and indeed it was quite awkward to put up, and after three years of ownership l still struggled with mine, theres quite a knack to them.
The second type slides forward like a shelf, you should have two pieces of wood as bearers that slot into the cups on the wall, but before l confuse you any further, does your bunk ends transverse any side windows?
In an older caravan, it is possible that the type of bunk has been changed by a previous owner from the original, your wall cups may correspond to a retrofit simple stretcher type bunk, which were popular with early ABI caravans, but the owner may have retained this to use on a future caravan, can you not contact him to ask?

Thanks for replies guys. Frannyvan my bunk is different to that and romany girl its under tge cupboards when travelling there is definitely no extra bits to attach it to the brackets on the wall but turning it upside down and replacing it isnt something I had thought of and will try it this evening and let u know! Many thanks guys
If you are still struggling it would help if you could post a picture please.
It does rather sound as though you have the second type that pulls out then drops down onto the lower side bearers (which you appear to have cup shaped bearers for rather than timber wall bearers) then flips over andout to form the full width of the bunk.
Have you checked that there are no other catches or webbing holding it in place that may be tucked away nearer to the back?
