I'm having problems exchanging a 6kg CalorLite bottle for a new one. No one seems to have them in stock,I've emailed Calor but not received an answer. Is anyone else having same problem?
I have just changed over to Calor Lite. I had to ring round to find out who had them in after 6 calls Go Outdoors had them. I had to reserve them, when I got there someone else was asking and they had non left, I had the last 2. As soon as one runs out I will ring round and change it immediately.
Enter your post code, but make sure you tick the box for "Calor Lite Stockist" before clicking "Submit".
Obviously, that doesn't confirm stock/availability, but a quick call should then prove worthwhile!
I struck lucky first time... exactly half way along the 15min route between my office and my home, not only was there a stockist, but they had one in stock! Result!

our local dealer is struggling to get hold of them so much so we had to exchange our lite for a normal bottle but he will change back after we have used it all .
Mucker if you take a left at motor homes nip past the trailer tents then just keep you head down and keep going forward you should make it back :)
I am a calor agent and the 6kg lites are getting like gold dust. I've had them on order for months and they just done arrive.
I will say though,whilst they are lighter it is funny how so many people will now refuse to use a normal 6kg stating they're too heavy. The same 6kg that they used for years without any problem. The difference is approx a 2 ltr lemonade bottle or 4 cans of beer,hardly gonna make any difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things.

Yep and I had to do a 30 mile round trip to collect one from an accessory shop as the Calor depot had no idea when they would get any in. They suspected it may be weeks.

It is carrying the steel bottles that is an issue with us as they seem to weigh a ton!

I think you may have your figures mixed up a little. According to Calor there is a 4.5kg difference in the empty bottle weight. So that would be 2 1/4 x 2l of lemonade. Most people carry 2, so that would be 4 1/2 x 2l bottles.
Out of choice who would want to carry that extra in the front locker with nose weights being so close the car limits these days?
We did also used to pee in a pot that was kept under the bed at night for years, but that does not mean we'd want to go back to it now that we have toilets in the house.
I tried my local go outdoors only 5 miles away said they had no idea when or if they could get stocks next one is 21 miles from me so it would be around trip of 42 miles (good at maths hey what lol). would have to reserve if I went there.no one else in me area have them. I emailed calor some three weeks ago had auto reply saying they would contact me still waiting. If you say got together with others wanting refills would the local calor dealer send them away for refill and save them for you that's if he got them back every thing is just up in the air with calor. I could be selling mine and changing to bp lite .every time I go into homebase they have them in stock malc1945

My figures were rough and i don't dispute it's beneficial to carry less weight.I'll have to take your figures as accurate as i don't have any lite bottles to compare with the normal ones. Either way noseweight is down to how you pack the van,pure and simple. As i said in my original post,in the grand scheme of things and the needless things we all carry in our caravans it seems a bit anorakish to be getting hung up on 9kg of gas bottles.
Using your analogy,if a flushing toilet wasn't available and you had a pan under the bed,would you drive 30 miles to use a proper toilet or pee in the pan?

We occasionally manage to catch them in stock at Go Outdoors which is our first choice because they are so cheap there. We also have a local caravan dealer who has always had one when we've needed it. Calor is also in Southampton but their prices are the highest!

My local supplier explained this to me, and I just got an ordinary one in exchange for my calor lite. They are overpriced, the gauge isn't accurate anyway (I had an extra two weeks of gas from mine after it registered empty)and it's the same overall size as the ordinary bottle.
