It may have been taken out altogether. My Sis has a van with a filter system, and the old filter was completely horrible, forcing bits of carbon into the water. So she took it out and just did without, as we couldn't find a replacement.
What's more important is to sterilize the pipes/water carrier/tank system before you use it for the first time. I use Puraclean... pump it into the pipes, leave to stand for at least an hour or overnight if possible, then pump out and rinse through a couple of times with clean water.
