Today I have embarked on my first weekend out of the year. I know it all, everything I need to take with me so I don't need to write a list.
Wrong
I forgot the two most important things slow cooker and remoska.
Then I thought I had a leak in my new caravan, there was a puddle, maybe about a tablespoonful of water under the bed. It turned out I had left about 1/2 a cupful in the kettle and the kettke was on its side
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Most things are left in the caravan butI have a list in my documents that I print off every time then cross things off, but a couple of times we've got there and not taken the double step.
It's a bit embarrassing having to use makeshift steps from bit's of wood.
I laughed at the bit about the kettle though, if I had found that water I would have reacted like it was the end of the world lol.
But you're supposed to forget things - especially after taking all that stuff out of the van over winter.
That's why you go away for short trips early in the year - in order to discover, & make a list of, all the things you forgot this time.
That way you can be sure you have them when you do those longer trips later on.
Of course, you probably don't need the SPF 50+ lotion in March, so you might forget that.
I have a spreadsheet on my laptop that's the caravan-packing bible (actually, I have two - the Basics Spreadsheet and the Mega Spreadsheet!!). Every year (in truth, practically every trip!) I tinker a little, add a little, delete a little ... Every trip we forget something 😳😄
I too have a spreadsheet which is vital especially for the 1st trip of the year. Worst is actually getting to site and finding you'd forgot the caravan keys, which I did once. Luckily wasn't to far from home to go back for them.
Ever since we arrived on holiday at Luss with no bedding or pillows early evening on a chilly Easter Saturday in March(therefore no shops open till the Monday), I have a handwritten list in the back of a notebook. At the top of the list it says BEDDING.
