We had a Bailey with 6'3" long bed with lobbed off bit. I'm 6'4" and the wife 5'4" and I slept on the side with the missing bit. Had no problem at all as my feet tended to be over the wife's side.
SWMBO is 5'0" I am 5'9" guess who sleeps on the 'lobbed off' side of the bed.
Yep you guessed its me! Its never been a problem. Unless you count her mountineering expeditions in the night so she can get to the loo over a snoring (not) me!
Never had a problem on our Burgundy, however it's my wife who sleeps on that side but just as she does in our kingsize bed at home she sneeks across to my side of the bed. I secretly like that she snuggles close to me so wouldnt grumble anyway.

As a matter of interest, anyone ever extended the lobbed off bit to make bed bigger e.g extended the frame a bit? Or is that a daft question (I realise that bed would then encroach on a bit of floor space).

Ahh right! I suppose caravans are always compromises. I love the van - the rest of it suits us great and its in fabulous nik. I did look at double dinette vans but I preferred the Amara layout, size, storage etc. just the size of bed I'm not so sure about and to get a bigger bed
I lose in other areas. OH could always sleep on a single!
not an issue I am 6'2 but my wife is smaller so we sleep to match the bed usually my legs stray into her 3/4 though but they never fall off the lopped off bit when you think about it, these beds have been around a bit now, if they were no good people would not have bought the vans and the beds would have been sent to the same place as the austin allegro square steering wheel
We loved a van with a bed like that, but after having the folding camper decided we got fed up climbing over the one on the outside for the loo during the night. we've now gone for an Island bed.

trouble with an island bed is you get wet every time you get out of it must be age
