Depends. The booster boosts the signal if it is weak. The status aerials gave a weak signal and needed boosting. A decent aerial probably doesn't.

So, if you get a good signal without, good. If not try it.

Freeview is now much stronger than it was during the interim stage when digital and analogue both ran. Now the analogue has been switched off, digital signals are much stronger.
