Maybe a stupid question. But how long can a leisure last if it is only running the fridge. On a summer's day on medium setting.
Is 4hrs about reasonable.
Many thanks in advance

A fridge will flatten a battery in an hr or so. your fridge if its a 3 way, is gas, 240v, and 12v when you are towing,(engine running)

How long will it last. Not long if your running the fridge on it and dropping the voltage that low.
Leisure batteries like a slow charge/discharge cycle and not letting the battery voltage drop too low.
4 hours would be lasting well. Do that a few times and the time will decrease rapidly as the battery weakens.

None of the wiring in a caravan or on the towbar is set up to allow tge fridge to be run on 12v unless the car engine is running so the question is academic. But you would very rapidly flatten a battery in an hour or two if you set up a lead to allow you to do so. ------------- Bill
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

If you really want to run the fridge off the leisure battery, you need to change the fridge for a compressor type, which will probably run for a couple of days. The only problem is that you cannot run a compressor fridge on gas. It all depends what your priorities are.
If you always use an EHU, then get a compressor fridge, wire it to run off the leisure battery, then leave the charger on to keep the battery topped up. If you like to use sites where there is no EHU, then this option is not viable as you would need gas to run the fridge.------------- Best Regards,
Colin

Sorry if I have confused everyone. I am only thinking....
Whilst l am touring from site to site and I stop off at a place of interest (a few hours sightseeing). Switch the fridge to leisure battery. How long do I have sufficient power for?
Thanks again.

You can't switch to leisure battery it isn't wired to the leisure battery only to the car when the engine is running.

As stated fridge cannot be run from leisure battery while parked. If you stop off as described run it on gas.

As long as the fridge has sufficient thermal mass, ie it is already chilled and full of food and drink it will stay cool for many hours without issue.
I've done a weekend, circa 36hrs total and the fridge has stayed cool enough to prevent milk etc from going off.
I wouldn't worry about a 4hr stop over.
