Hi all,

I have an old van with original upholstery. I don't want to change the upholstery because its actually a modern design and goes with the rest of the van,its also in good condition.

However the two front seat cushions are soft in places. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to refill with new foam and if so any providers.I will need this to be done professionally as I am useless at this kind of thing. Also does it cost much?

If they are filled with foam, then remove them and if you have some form of steamer, steam the foam and it will bounce back to its normal shape.

Once out, buy some wadding and spray the foam with spray mount and just put a layer of wadding (sold by the meter) on the foam, will come out like new and take little or no expertise.

If the cushions are fixed and cant be removed, then a hand held steamer over the material will still have the desired effect. towel place over the material, and run a steam generator iron over them as I did.

I have included some pics of the foam seats from our old trailer tent that I steamed.

well give it a go, you have nothing to lose, and could save you spending money needlessly.

Hi
We replaced the mattress, and all the seat cushions in our trailer tent (only 1 bed) with extra firm foam, and then put original covers on. We paid £75 for the lot!!! Shop around at local foam manufacturers - our local one will let you drop cushions off, and they will take out old foam and replace it with new.
We are not in your area, but we used LSP Foam - tel 01384 639836. Give them a call with your measurements and they will give you a quote. Nice folks too,

Jackie
