We have a Bailey Ranger 500/5 made in 2007, we need to buy a new jockey wheel as the tyre on the existing one has had it! Our caravan is in storage several miles away and we have forgotten to get the size of the jockey wheel we need. Can anyone help us with the diameter of the wheel? Is the spindle at the centre a standard size or if not does anyone know what size this should be? We would prefer to just buy a new wheel rather than whole new handle. Also are solid/plastic wheels better than actual tyres? We have a mover if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any help anyone can give us with sizes

The original jockey wheel itself is a 240x70 soft tread wheel (not a tyre), with a 20mm centre spindle. The spindle is removeable to fit the replacement wheel. However, this size seems to me (from a quick search anyway), to be an Alko wheel which vary in price between £25-£30.
Example replacement wheel - click here.

There's pro's and con's between hard and pneumatic, but the general concensus seems to be the pneumatics are prone to giving problem; most folk who I know who've tried a 'tyre', have soon gone back to a solid jockey wheel.

I must be the odd one out then when we bought our van it had a solid wheel it was the standard wheel that Bailey fit but with the mover it was always digging itself in and getting stuck pneumatic on which was a bit bigger and since then we have had no problems we have a Ranger 460 two birth.Ian

We have one of these.

We attach it to the jockey wheel and just point it the same way as everyone else, or the nearest houses.

A little bit odd to ask on a topic regarding jockey wheels, you might be wise to start a new topic.
That said though, more detail please eg what aerial do you have, if any? Re-tuned TV? Location?
I replaced the standard omni-directional 'flying saucer' for a Status 560 and that works a treat.
