My original leisure battery has turned it's toes up and won't hold a charge now that winter has come and gone. I have a new one on order but I was just thinking that the lead in it must be worth something as scrap, or is this just wishful thinking on my part?

Theres not a lot to be made Dave. I worked for a waste yard years ago and i think lead was about 10p a kilo. Might be more now but not enough as a deposit for a new one.

probably around £8-10 for the battery if you took it to the scrap yard and weighed it in

They are worth a little as a guy I know will happily pay £3 each for old batteries so I guess he is at least doubling his money?

Apparently you can only weigh in 3 at a time due to some new waste regulations.

Taking it to the scrap yard nowadays(thanks to the thieving B******s)can involve a lot of time consuming procedures,My brother in law had to show his passport and got paid by cheque
