Am sure this has prob been asked before but do you store your food in the top cupboards before travelling, in boxes on the floor(I do) or in the car? if you do put them in top cupboards have you ever had anything fall out/break etc? or is it pretty safe?

Leave a few things in the top cupboards but mostly in the car, we have plenty of room. Never had anything fall out but don't put heavy things or breakable containers in there.

Tins in the bottom and boxes, coffee, tea etc in the top. Never had anything fall out but be careful when opening top cupboards after a tow as things do move about.

We keep food etc in the top cupboards while travelling but we stand everything in little plastic baskets inside the cupboard. I got mine from Asda I think 2 for a pound but you can pick them up in places like Home and Bargain. Probably best measuring your cupboards first our baskets are about 12" x 6" and I can fit 2 in each cupboard.

A friend of mine had a tin of beans fall out one of his top cupboards and damaged his worktop. He was quoted £1300 to replace the worktop. We travel with tins up there, our catches seem pretty strong and haven't had anything fall out yet.

Regular essentials travel in a folding crate on the floor of the van. Room in the crate for any extras we happen to be taking. Takes all of two minutes to stick them in a cupboard when we get to site and I'm not fretting about what's going on in the van during the journey.

Unless we are doing a quick overnight stop and then it will be a fish supper in the evening and sandwiches for breakfast, then everything remains in crates overnight, probably stored in the boot of the car.

For more than a two day stop, then part of the fun of caravanning is setting out all the food etc in their appropriate lockers.

We tend not to store anything in the top lockers apart from our lightweight melamine dishes. Even the pull out drawers are normally laid on the floor.

Stuff that is kept in the van all year goes in a folding box on the floor everything else in the car. Empty containers and the odd lightweight item in the top lockers if travelling between sites.
